Today I felt like doing a bit of a different post, so thought I’d select my everyday makeup I’m into at the moment and talk a bit about each of the products.
My skin has been really dry recently – probably a combination of cycling in the cold and snuggling up at home away from the shivers of winter making my skin a bit dehydrated – so I’ve been trying to stay away from heavier products. Thankfully, the sun is beginning to make a more frequent appearance these days, so I’m sure my skin will be back to normal soon enough, but for now I’m loving a light, but hydrating, base. The products I used are very neutral based, as this was a day-time make-up look – and I’m a bit obsessed with neutrals more generally.
Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream
A product that’s glorious for dehydrated skin is the ‘123 Perfect CC Cream’ from Bourjois, a brand that just keep impressing me, especially when it comes to their foundations. I’m a big fan of the ‘Healthy Mix Serum’, but for lighter days the CC cream is a pleasure to use. I use the lightest shade in ‘Ivory’, which is a really good match. While it feels light on the skin, the coverage is excellent and thankfully it doesn’t cling to any of the dry patches my skin has been sprouting as of late.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer
I have been meaning to pick up this concealer for the longest time, so when my No. 7 Match Made Concealer had seen better days I decided to go for this one. The coverage was A LOT better than I expected, really nice and creamy in consistency too. My only qualm with this is that it doesn’t perfectly match my Bourjois CC Cream, which is annoying as they are both in the lightest shades. However, I’m happy to forgive in this case as it’s very easy to blend out, due to the consistency being lovely.
Max Factor Creme Puff Blush (Nude Mauve)
Next up I dusted a little of this on the cheekbones – I won’t go on too much about this, as it’s so good that it deserved it’s own blogpost (you can find this below if you’re interested). It really is lovely, frames the face beautifully while giving enough glow that a highlighter isn’t necessary.
Benefit Brows A-Go-Go
This is the only brow product that I know I can completely rely on; I go through phases of brow pencils but powder just always works for me. It sticks around all day without thee need of a brow gel, and is a really good colour match for me. It seems to have been discontinued, however Benefit ‘Brow Zing’ seems very similar, thank goodness. I’ve majorly hit pan on mine so shall be re-purchasing if I can!
Seventeen Wild Metallic Cream Eyeshadow (Wild Nude)
These came out a few years ago, it seems you can get hold of them in some stores but I think they have been discontinued. On their own, these crease very badly, but they work really nicely underneath an eyeshadow as a base. Lovely colour range too!
Urban Decay Naked Palette
I love the first Naked palette, I won’t go on, but the novelty of the shade ‘side-car’ has never quite worn off for me. It is beautiful. A shimmery taupe/champagne, it is wonderful for a night out, but also, if used subtley, for a neutral eye in the day. Love love love.
L’oreal False Lash Telescopic Mascara
I was late to the party with this one, and sadly too late for the water-proof version. It seperates, lengthens and gives volume to my lashes, but sadly does smudge on me, which isn’t a problem I have with many mascaras. Sometimes I do layer a little of a waterproof mascara on top to prevent this, but if I’m feeling brave I use it alone. Such a shame it smudges, as both the formula and brush are great.
Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon (Peach on the Beach)
Well, aren’t we having a Bourjois rave! The final product I used was a lip crayon; I’m obsessed with these at the moment. I also love the ones from Rimmel; they’re the sort of product you’re not expecting great lasting power from, just a little more pigment than a balm. I find with this colour that I do have to blend it into my lips with my finger, as it is quite a pale shade, but then I do tend to do this with a lot of lip products. It’s a lovely finish to a neutral look.
I’m thinking of maybe doing this once a month to show what kind of make-up look I’ve been the most drawn to that month, maybe I’ll be brave and include a picture of me wearing it. Let me know your thoughts!
