Lush Million Dollar Moisturiser: A New Favourite

lush millionaire moisturizer

Lush skincare has always been a favourite of mine; from Herbalism to the Enchanted Eye Cream, I can never resist picking up a new skincare product when I go into store.

The latest addition to my collection is the Lush Million Dollar Moisturiser, a deeply moisturising, crazy glowy moisturiser that is well worth the hefty price tag (IMHO).

I fell in love with this product the second I tried it – it creates the most beautiful base for makeup, and leaves the skin feeling plump and supple.

Ingredients include shea butter, honey, rosewood oil and sesame seed oil, all great for nourishing and moisturising, but also soothing sensitive skin. This also has SPF 30, a fabulous bonus as it keeps the skin protected from the sun too.

lush million dollar moisturiser

Pre-warning: If you don’t like thick, intensive formulas, you probably won’t like this. However I still recommend you get a free sample from Lush – in my experience stores are always great with this, and it will give you the chance to try this product out for yourself before making a purchase.

At £32.50 this is by no means a cheap product, but given that it’s completely gorgeous and damn sight cheaper than most other luxury moisturisers, I’ll certainly be re-purchasing.

May Birchbox Review

may birchbox

So, this is my third Birchbox, and I’ve been really impressed with them so far.

They’re always delivered on time, and come in the most beautiful packaging.

May’s Birchbox has been no different, with a stunning design called ‘For the Dreamers’. Birchboxes are always unique, and this one you can scratch off with a coin to reveal the colourful design within.

There are six products in this month’s Birchbox, and they’re all really good!

Philip Kingsley PK Prep Polishing Balm

This is a really lovely smoothing hair balm, perfect for taming frizz and curlier hair.

I love using this on blow-dried hair, to enhance my curls and keep frizz at bay. It can also be used on damp hair too.

Really lovely product, will be trying more from Philip Kingsley for sure!

Spectrum Collections Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge

This is cheaper alternative to the beauty blender, and at 4.99 it’s a great deal. It’s quite a bit firmer than the beauty blender, but I find that it applies much fuller coverage than other sponges because of this, and it leaves the skin looking really flawless.

I usually dampen it before use, and ‘bounce’ my foundation into my skin. Lovely.

Vita Coco Coconut Oil

I’m a big coconut oil fan, so when I saw there was a coconut oil sample in May’s Birchbox, I was super happy.

I can’t say it’s a great deal different to other coconut oils I’ve tried, but it’s really nice. Great for a hair mask before bed, a moisturizer and even cooking!

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvinator

This is a really nice exfoliator, but be warned, it’s super grainy! You only need a tiny bit, and you won’t need to rub it into your skin harshly, but it really does leave your skin feeling clean and ultra smooth.

Ingredients include papaya, micro-crystals and aloe vera, giving you optimum hydration and removing dead skin cells.

Puriskin Resurfacing Cream

I don’t think I’ve been using this long enough to see the long-term effects, but I have high hopes!

It’s smells divine, and claims to help reduce the appearance of acne scarring, age spots, blemishes, bruises and a whole range of other skin issues.

I’ve been using it on some stubborn scarring – I’ll let you know if it has an effect!

The Balm Staniac Lip and Cheek Tint

This is a really lovely natural blush tint, that can be applied with fingers or a brush.

It’s not quite as good on the lips, as it tastes a bit strange, but would probably work lightly patted in for a natural look.

The Anna and Lily Cult Beauty Box Review!

anna and lily cult beauty box review

I’m such big fans of Vivianna Does Makeup and Lily Pebbles, so when I heard that they were collaborating with the awesome online beauty retailer Cult Beauty, I had to put my name on the mailing list.

The ordering process went very smoothly – I received an email on the Friday with a link directing me to the order page, and my purchase went through without a hitch.

I received my box within a couple of days, which is fantastic. Normally these things can take weeks, so I was very excited and impressed to see my box on my doorstep only days after ordering it!

Now, let’s start with the packaging.

In true blogger style, the box itself is gorgeous, with beautiful marble detailing and gold lettering. It’s a very decent size, perfect for re-using to store makeup bits etc, and the products were folded in black tissue paper – very fancy.

The products themselves really are excellent. You can tell by the selection that these products are staple favourites for Lily and Anna, and the sizes are very generous.

So, let’s get to what I thought of the products…

cult beauty box

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel (100ml)

I have wanted to try this cleanser for the longest time, having heard many reviews from my favourite bloggers, particularly Anna and Lily.

It’s a beautiful texture, almost oily and quite thick. It leaves the skin feeling very nourished and smooth, and it is very gentle. Full of vitamins and essential nutrients, this is a real treat for the skin.

I  was very impressed to receive a full size of this product, as it’s not the cheapest cleanser on the market. I have fallen in love with it, and the packaging is great too!

Becca Backlight Priming Filter (6ml)

I am completely smitten with this primer, and will definitely be buying the full size once this one has run out.

This is a cute travel size, and leaves the most gorgeous glow to the skin.

I’ve even been mixing this in with my foundation, to add extra glow and hydration

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist (80ml)

I’ve never been much into face mists, but this is lovely. Perfect for a top-up of moisture before you apply makeup, this Pixi face mist really adds that kick of moisture that you may have lost since applying moisturiser.

Containing hyaluronic acid, this face mist has true skincare benefits, and can even be applied over makeup for a cool spritz on warm days.

Yu Ling Jade Facial Roller

I’ve never used a facial roller before, so I was very intrigued by this product.

Regular massaging the face is very good for keeping your skin looking bright, and jade is said to have healing properties.

I love keeping this in the fridge and using it when my skin is red and puffy… or when I’m feeling a little worse for wear. Great for getting rid of hangovers!

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

Now, this is the only product of the bunch that I am slightly disappointed with.

While it applies beautifully, and it super black, it just isn’t waterproof! It smudges really badly on me, which I never usually have a problem with, and it transfers above my eyelids, which, let’s be honest, is never going to catch on.

I will continue to use this, but perhaps more for natural makeup days, where I just need a really fine line to frame my eyes. I want to love it, I really do. Maybe it just needs to dry out a little?

Wet Brush Pro Classic

If, like me, your hair is like a lion’s mane after it’s been washed, you are going to love this!

It’s the best de-tangling brush I’ve ever used. It effortlessly combs through hair, with no tugging or anything painful.

I used to have to smother my hair in oil before even daring to brush it, whereas now I use only a tiny bit on the ends to keep split ends at bay.

I’m totally converted on this one, and really want one of the travel size ones to pop in my handbag.

anna and lily cult beauty box review

The Verdict

This box retails at 85 pounds, which is very good when you consider this is over half price if you were to buy these items separately.

I’m a huge fan of this box, and am so glad I made the order.

Have any of you tried it? Let me know what you think!

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil Review

Okay, so I’m late to the party, but the Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil really is wonderful.

Sometimes products are hyped for a reason, and this is definitely one of them. Luna is a beautiful night oil from Sunday Riley, who offer gorgeous skincare that, while very expensive, claims to perform wonders on the skin, whether dry, oily or combination.

With skin that’s always thirsty, I’m constantly on the lookout for products that will make my skin look glowy and plumped, without drying out my skin even more.

Luna is a gorgeous night oil that reduces pore size, improves the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and generally soothes/calms down aggravated skin.

There are lots of lovely natural ingredients in this beautiful little potion, including chia, Concord grape seed oil and avocado, designed to absorb quickly and add radiance.

If you don’t mind spending your money on skincare, give this a try. If you’re looking for a budget night oil, this isn’t for you, however I would highly recommend saving up for it, as it’s a patch above any cheaper oil I’ve tried, plus you only need a drop, so you won’t be repurchasing any time soon.

Let me know if you’ve tried anything from Sunday Riley, I really want to try more from them and would love to know what’s good!

April Favourites

April has mainly been a month for skincare – with the cold of winter finally saying farewell, we look to the summer months for bronzed, glowy skin that will probably remain in our British dreams.

I’ve been really into oil based products lately, and April has been no exception. Prepare yourselves. This is going to get oily.

Wella Hair Oil

I’ve been loving this hair oil lately – I bought it from my local hairdressers recently and I’m totally hooked.

If you have tangly hair after washing it, you will LOVE this. You won’t be tugging at your hair, and it will leave your hair silky smooth afterwards. Lovely.

Una Brennan Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser

I am really loving this stuff right now – pretty much just because of the smell. It smells like an incredible mix between The Body Shop’s satsuma lip balms that we all know and love, and freshly squeezed orange juice.

It makes me feel nice and awake in the morning, plus it packs a punch in the moisture department too.

Barry M Nail Polish in ‘Pink Lemonade’

I’m not really a pink kind of girl, but this is beautiful. A real dusky, nude pink, this nail varnish is lovely as it goes with any outfit, and although it’s pretty chip-proof, you can’t really tell if it’s chipped anyway as the colour is so pale.

I never thought I’d really be one for pink nail varnish, but this is lovely.

H&M Halo Illuminiser

This is a beautiful, cool-toned highlighter, that lasts really well on the skin. A little goes a long way, so you don’t need much!

I really like this on the tops of the cheek bones, and because it’s a cream, it blends in really well with the rest of my makeup.

What have you been loving in April? Let me know in the comments!

April’s Birchbox

Having loved my March Birchbox, I was really excited to receive my April box. As before, it turned up on my doorstep in the most beautiful packaging, this time featuring a collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. – a US stationary and lifestyle brand.

This gorgeous, ‘Blooming Marvellous’ floral box was home to all kinds of goodies, in its usual little tote bag if anyone has any cool uses for these let me know in the comments, they’re too nice to throw away!

Nuxe Multi-Purpose Dry Oil for Face, Body and Hair

When I first pulled this out of the box I actually thought this was a perfume. Paired with the pretty glass bottle and luxurious scent, I don’t think I’m the first to make this mistake.

Thankfully I really enjoy scented products, so when I realised this was a dry oil I was just as excited. It’s gorgeous in texture, and works beautifully on both the skin and in hair. I think I prefer it in the hair, as it acts as a beautiful hair perfume as well as a hair oil.

Kueshi Foot Care Cream

As foot creams go, this is pretty good! I’m not a massive fan of tea-tree scents, but this is definitely bearable, as it makes my feet feel super soft.

Definitely a good one to use before bed – your feet will feel brand new by morning.april birchbox

Benefit ‘Dew The Hoola’ Liquid Bronzer

This is such a fun little product. I definitely prefer liquid bronzers to powder bronzers, as I feel I have far more control over how much I apply.

I have never tried Hoola in its original form, however I really love the liquid version. It’s not too dark or too orange, and acts as a really nice contour colour. I love pairing this with the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Nude Mauve for a beautiful sculpted effect.

Parlor Touchable Curl Cream

This is one I need to give a proper go – I’ve been wearing my hair fairly straight lately, but next time I let it go wild, I’ll give this a try.april birchbox

LOC One and Done Shadow Stick in ‘Impress Me’

I was really chuffed to receive one of these eye shadow crayons, as I’ve heard a lot about the range on Tati’s Youtube channel. I’m a big fan of Tati’s videos and honest approach to reviewing makeup, so was excited to try some of the products from her makeup range.

This is a gorgeous taupe/purple/brown colour, perfect for an everyday wash of colour, as well as a smokey eye. The staying power of this product is excellent, plus it works wonderfully under other shadows.

What did you receive in your April Birchbox? I’d love to know!

March Birchbox

Beautiful March Birchbox

I’ve recently started a Birchbox subscription, and oh boy do I love it.

I’m a big fan of ‘monthly boxes’, having been a bit of a Graze lover in the past. Having spent a lot more time blogging lately, I thought it was about time I got stuck into a beauty box, and Birchbox

seemed to have the most ineresting brands and versatility on offer.

After setting up my subscription, my first box arrived very quickly, isn’t the packaging gorgeous?

march birchbox

For March’s box, Birchbox have created a wordsearch themed box – something my inner geek was very thankful for! The box is a beautiful pastel blue, with white and gold detailing.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of products you receive in the boxes, especially as they come in a cute little tote bag too. The boxes themselves are really sturdy I’m probably going to

use mine as draw dividers to store makeup etc.

Rituals White Lotus and Yi Yi Ren Foaming Shower Gel Sensation

I really enjoyed this shower gel it foams up which is really lovely, and smells beautiful. You only get 50ml in the sample, which isn’t much once the liquid foams, but it’s enough to be able to judge

whether you enjoy the product or not. I managed to get about a week’s work of showers out of this, which is pretty good for a sample sized product.

Arrow Boost Color Enhancing Lip Balm

I think this has to be the star of the show Arrow’s lip balm is incredibly moisturizing, has a perfect amount of pigment and the packaging is really cute.

It’s a bit of a gimmick, as the colour is supposedly dependent on the natural pigment of your lips, however I love things like that. This made my lips a really pretty peachy pink.

More Brows Eyebrow Thickening Fibre Gel

For a girl that isn’t really into brow gels, this was quite a hit. I normally find brow gel a bit excessive, as my brows are dark enough anyway and don’t tend to move much throughout the day.

I’m glad I gave this a go though, as it in fact made my brows look more natural, and did keep them in place all day. The wand isn’t tapered, which makes it a little difficult to work with, but overall a nice find.march birchbox

Polar Night Revitalizing Cream with Boreal Algae

This has made a nice night cream over the last few weeks, and the size is extremely generous. It’s quite like a gel in texture, which isn’t what I’m used to with a night cream, but it does leave the skin feeling supple and nourished. box review

Spectrum Collections Tapered Powder Brush

I think this one has to be my favourite of March’s Birchbox. I’ve never tried any of Spectrum brushes, but they are absolutely amazing.

Super soft, perfect application and funky packaging make this brush one of my new favourites - it’s perfect for a subtle contour, great for blush application and you can even apply your foundation with this for a light coverage. Love it.

No. 4 Reconstructing Masque

I haven’t got around to trying this one yet, but I’ll keep you posted!

The Verdict

So overall, quite a success! I was a bit nervous about receiving my first box, as you never really know what you’ll receive, but having discovered some beautiful new brands it’s safe to say that I’m

very excited for April’s Birchbox.

Una Brennan Superfacialist Vitamin C + Skin Renew Cleansing Oil Review

una brennan vitamin c facial oil

Una Brennan Cleansing Oil

I love a good facial oil. There’s nothing better than moisturized, plumped skin, and I find there’s nothing more effective than an oil-based product to achieve this.

I’ve completed fallen in love with the Una Brennan Superfacialist Vitamin C + Skin Renew Cleansing Oil Review. Not only is it brilliant at removing makeup and giving the skin a really thorough cleanse, but it also smells INCREDIBLE.

Imagine the Bodyshop’s satsuma body butter, mixed with freshly squeezed orange juice, and you don’t even come close to the gorgeous, citrus scent this leaves on your squeaky clean skin.

Pretty much, if you hate oranges or anything citrus based, you definitely won’t like this.

But if you can’t get enough of it, like me, you’re going to absolutely love this product.

At £10.99 for 200ml it’s a steal as you only need a couple of drops to cleanse your whole face, and it’s usually on an offer or a 3 for 2 deal.

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Spring Drugstore Haul

We all love a good drugstore haul.

There’s nothing better than popping into Boots – only intending on picking up some face-wipes or a lip balm – and coming out with a million and one things, all because you couldn’t resist that cheeky 3 for 2.

Well that happened to me last weekend and no, I couldn’t resist.

Una Brennan Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil

Having loved the Una Brennan face masks, I knew it wouldn’t be long before I tried out a few more lovelies in this gorgeous range.

The Facial Oil Cleanser really caught my eye, as I love cleansers that help break down your makeup as well as cleanse the skin, and oils really are the best of both.

Una Brennan Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser

I’m a sucker for a matching cleanser/moisturiser combo, which is the sole reason I picked up the Vitamin C+ Daily Moisturiser.

With the same beautiful citrus scent, I couldn’t resist giving this a go.

Bourjois City Radiance Foundation

I’m a big fan of Bourjois bases, in particular their Healthy Mix Serum and the CC cream. This looked like a nice in-between so I thought I’d pick it up.

It looks like it has quite a sheer coverage, but I do tend to prefer that anyway, particularly when applying with a brush.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in ‘Light Neutral’

I have a little cheat in the pile here – I realize Urban Decay definitely isn’t drugstore makeup, but I bought it on the same shopping trip and can’t resist telling you about it.

I’ve tried this before and really enjoyed it, but had the wrong shade. I picked it up in a shade lighter this time, and I can’t wait to give it a go.

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Nude Mauve

The Max Factor Creme Puff Blushes are another old favourite of mine, and having dropped my Nude Mauve shade on the floor it smashed everywhere – I know, tragic.

I had to pick up another and love the way this shade acts as a beautiful combination of blush and contour. Definitely look out for a feature post on this blush in the future.

Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lip Balm in Pomegranate

Finally I picked up a Burt’s Bees lip balm on the way out – the one product I’d actually come in for.

I have never tried one of these and thought it was about time to give in to the hype. I tried it on my way home and yes, it is definitely as gorgeous as everyone says!

What have you picked up at Boots or Superdrug lately?

February Favourites

February Favourites

Where HAS February gone?

It may be a shorter month, but it’s gone so quick! This month I have lots of skincare favourites, and of course a few makeup favourites thrown in too for good measure. As it’s still pretty chilly outside my skin has been very dry, which is why skincare has been my best friend throughout freezing February.

I’ll get straight into it, with all of the skincare bits I’ve been loving recently.

Simple Cleansersimple cleanser

I have been loving this Simple Kind To Skin Cleanser this month, as it’s kept my skin looking really fresh and has kept most blemishes at bay.
At £2.39 from Superdrug it’s probably the cheapest cleanser on the market, and makes skincare quick and easy. It’s a foaming cleanser, which isn’t my usual choice, but I wanted something low maintenance, that I didn’t need a flannel or cotton pads for.

This is best applied to damp skin, massaged in and washed off. I’ve really enjoyed using this throughout February, and it seems to have stopped any pesky break-outs from appearing.

Simple Moisturizer

I purchased the Simple Kind To Skin Moisturizer to accompany the Simple Cleanser, and it’s been equally as lovely an experience.
It’s lightweight, taking seconds to sink into the skin, and comes in a nifty tube. I much prefer products that are packaged in this way, as opposed to a tub or pot, as it’s far more hygienic.
This skincare pair have been a pleasure to use in February, and I’ll be picking up more from the Simple range for sure!simple moisturizer

Superdrug Eye Cream

The Superdrug Vitamin E Eye Cream is a product I used to love, but never re-purchased. Eye cream is a step I often skip, but as I’m approaching my mid-twenties I think it’s time to start playing the eye cream game!
A very affordable product, this Superdrug Eye Cream is thick enough to thoroughly moisturize your under eye area, while lightweight enough that it doesn’t make your concealer slip around.
Definitely give this a go if you’re new to eye creams – it’s a really affordable option that will keep your under eyes from getting dry, while preparing the skin for aging in the years to come.superdrug eye cream

Rimmel Foundation

My makeup favourites in February are few and far between – I have a few staple products that I’ve really been enjoying this month, and I haven’t really felt the need to find alternatives.

However, the Rimmel 25 Hour Full Coverage Foundation has definitely been a favourite this month! Having watched Zoella’s latest everyday makeup routine, I listened to how much she loved it and thought I’d give it a go.
It is very full coverage, but I do prefer that in the winter months. You do need to powder with this foundation, as it’s quite tacky to the touch, but I do think this significantly impacts on the longevity of the product. I’ve been wearing this to work everyday, and it’s been lasting a really long time. Great foundation, at a small price!rimmel foundation

Wella Hair Oil

I had my hair cut this month for the first time in ages – I always forget how lovely having your hair cut is, and I’m endeavouring to get it cut more often!
My hairdresser used a very lovely hair oil to both detangle and finish my hair. It’s the Wella Oil Reflections Hair Oil, and it smells amazing. My hair is very dry naturally, and so it drinks oil like nothing else. It leaves my hair feeling super soft all day, and really nourishes the ends.wella hair oil

Barry M Nail Polish

For nails this month I’ve been loving the  Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in ‘Prickly Pear’. It’s a really subtle pastel purple, and it lasts for ages. As it’s a very quick-drying nail polish, you don’t have to wait long before your nails are dry, and the cute names of the colour range are the icing on the cake.

barry m gelly nail varnish polish prickly pear
This is my first blog post in a few months – apologies if you thought I’d disappeared. I’m planning on posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so keep an eye out for my posts! I’ll be sharing via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too.
